Visit one of the most important museums of Lima, Museo Larco whose galleries exhibit the 3000 years of development history of pre-Columbian Peru, be amazed by the richness of the northern kingdoms, fly over the enigmatic Nazca lines, be marveled by the impressive architectural monuments of the southern kingdoms and relax by the sounds of the jungle.

LARCO MUSEUM

Meet the largest and most impressive pre-columbian art collection in the world. Located in an 18th century vice-royal mansion, built on and pre-columbian pyramid of the 7th century. Its new galleries display the best and most complete collection of gold and silver of Peru together with its famous collection of erotic pottery.

CHAN CHAN ARCHEOLOGICAL COMPLEX, HUANCHACO BEACH, PERUVIAN PASO HORSE SHOW & SUN AND MOON TEMPLE (FD):

You will be taken to Chan Chan, capital of the Chimu culture (1200-1470 AD) and the largest mud city in America. Then visit the Huaca Arco Iris (ceremonial restored), located 6km north of downtown, Nik-An Palace and the museum site located 5 km northwest of downtown. After the visit departure to Huanchaco, where you can appreciate the fishermen sailing in his “reed horses” used since pre-Inca times. After lunch you will enjoy a demonstration of Paso Horses and Marinera in the Fundo Palo Marino.

Finally you know the Huaca of the Sun and the Moon pyramid structure of the Moche culture (100-750 AD) decorated with beautiful murals with the representation of the God Ai-Paec, also known as the “Cutthroat.

ROYAL TOMBS OF THE LORD OF SIPAN (HD):

At afternoon visit to the Royal tombs of Sipan Museum that is located in Lambayeque city, it´s architecture has been inspirited in the old Pyramids of the Moche Culture. This museum has more than two thousand pieces made of gold. The access to the museum is through a ramp, similar just as it was the access to the ancients Moche Temples. This ramp takes you through the third floor and you will go down visiting the different rooms. In the second floor you could appreciate a replica of the funeral chamber for a Moche noble warrior called “The Lord of Sipan”. Also you can appreciate the ornaments how they were recovered in the tomb, as the Coxal protector made of gold, pectoral, between others important objects. In the first floor, almost to finish the visit, we will found a room called “The Real House”, this room has thirty-five dummies that represent the political environment, ten of them are articulated to have moving during the visit. This reconstruction put nearer to Mochica encourage.

SICAN NATIONAL MUSEUM & TUCUME ARCHAEOLOGICAL COMPLEX (FD) 

The tour begins with a visit to the Sican where excavations show Pomac Forest Museum, including more detailed crafts gold Peru.

Then you will visit the archaeological complex of Tucume where you will see its 26 truncated pyramids and 35 meters of Lambayeque (800-1470 AD) culture is also found in this site the largest adobe building in the world.

 

At proper time you will be guided to the airport for your international flight.

Upon your arrival, you will be transferred to your hotel.

BALLESTAS ISLANDS (HD)

Departing from Chaco pier. This 2 hour boat ride will lead you to the Ballestas Islands located near Pisco city, in front of the Paracas National Reserve (largest coastal wildlife sanctuary of Peru). These beautiful islands are home of thousands of migratory birds, including: pelicans, tendrils, gulls among others, which share their habitat with huge groups of sea lions and fur seals. During the excursion you will also see the mysterious designing over the hill, called “El Candelabro” (The Chandelier).

At proper time you will be guided to the bus to Nasca.

Drive to Nasca by regular bus (equipped with A/C, reclining seats and toilet/washroom). 

Upon arrival at the bus station you will be taken to your hotel.

NASCA LINES OVERFLIGHT (HD) 

Overflight the Nazca Lines you will be transferred to the local airport for your flight over the incredible Nazca Lines, drawn on the pampas of the same name. You will see several figures of stylized plants and animals drawn in an enormous labyrinth of straight lines, trapezoids, triangles, and spirals scattered about the desert floor that has remained preserved for about 2000 years. 

 

Notes

The flight is subject to weather conditions in the area. Groups of passengers may be divided into different flights considering the maximum weight allowed on the plane as provided by law. This overflight is considered a domestic flight and it’s necessary to show the passport at the boarding time.

Drive to Arequipa by regular bus (equipped with A/C, reclining seats and toilet/washroom).

Upon arrival at the Arequipa’s bus station, you will be taken to your hotel.

Departure to Colca Valley located over 3,500 meters above the sea. On the way you will cross the Aguada Blanca and Salinas National Reserve, with the highest presence of Andean flora and fauna. The trip continues to Tojra wetlands. Later you will cross Patapampa which is a land located over 4,800 meters above the sea where you will find the “Mirador de los Andes”, a strategic point to see the cordillera Chila with great volcanoes: Mismi, Chucura, Huaracante, and far away the Ubinas, Misti, Chachani, Ampato, Sabancaya and Hualca Hualca. To continue you will arrive at Chivay town and you will be transferred to the selected accommodation.

After breakfast, you will start the journey through the main towns of the valley until the first stop at Yanque, where you will appreciate the typical dances exposed in the main square. You can also choose for a short walk (45 min.) along a path at the edge of the canyon.

Then you will departure to “La Cruz del Condor”, the best spot to observe the deepness of the canyon (3,400 meters deep, 124 miles length) and also see the majestic fly of the condor. There is not an exactly time to see them, it can be at any time; sometimes it depends of your good luck and patience. On the way back you will visit some interesting places such as: Pre -Inca’s hanging tombs, lookout of terraces, Pinchollo and Maca towns where you will have a short stop to take pictures of the landscapes. Then you will continue to the towns: Achoma and Yanque . You will arrive at 12:30 to Chivay for lunch; at appropriate time (approximately 13:30) you will be transferred to Puno.

PUNO, TAQUILE, LUQUINA & UROS (FD)

Pick up from the hotels and transfer to the port of Puno, to head to Taquile, Spend 2.5 hours on this natural island where we can observe a community that has preserved its cultural heritage (interpretation of woven images, natural landscapes), visit and enjoy panoramic views of the large lake, and return along the islands by the traditional route.

At noon, we leave from the Taquile port to go to the Chucuito Peninsula, in Luquina Chico. We enjoy a buffet lunch with local foods in “La Casa del Pescador” (fisherman’s home), Lunch and return to Puno; visit on the way the traditional floating islands of the Uros.

Travel by bus from Puno to Cusco. During the way the bus will make some stops at important points like: Pukara, an archeological complex formed by a pyramidal structure. This is the first sign of civilized culture in the Peruvian Altiplano. La Raya, the highest pass on the route (4312 meters/14000 feets). Raqchi, to visit the “Wiracocha temple” that according to the old chroniclers was built by the Inca Wiracocha in honour to the Supreme God of the Incas: “Apu Kon Titi Wiracocha” and Andahuaylillas, a church considered as the “Sistine Chapel of the Americas” because of the quality of the artworks found inside it. Upon your arrival to Cusco, you will be met and be transferred to your hotel.

PISAC MARKET & OLLANTAYTAMBO FORTRESS (FD)

This morning you will drive to the Pisaq market in the Sacred Valley. Originally a place where people from remote communities used to barter their products, Pisaq has evolved to one of South America’s most famous souvenir markets. Lunch will be served at a local restaurant. Afternoon visit to Ollantaytambo Fortress where the Temple of the Sun (formed of six gigantic monoliths, whose total weight exceeds 50 tons) and the Terrace of the Ten Niches stand out.

Early in the morning you will take the train to Aguas Calientes. On arrival a small coach takes you up the steep roads to the entrance of the citadel. Your guide will take about 2 hours through the vast ruins. Machu Picchu is the best known of the Inca ruins, is believed to have been built around the mid-15th century and was “rediscovered” by the American historian Hiram Bingham in 1911. The guided tour of this fascinating place is an awesome experience. Visit the Main Square, the Royal Quarters, and the Temple of the Three Windows, the Circular Towers, the Sacred Sun Dial and burial. Lunch will be served at a local restaurant.

At the appointed time, you will return to the station to take your train ride to train.

SECOND DAY MACHU PICCHU & HUAYNAPICCHU (3 hours)

You can make a second visit to Machu Picchu. If you are adventurous, you might enjoy of the adrenaline of ascending the Huayna Picchu which means “Young Mountain”, here you will visit the temple of the Moon and what is worthwhile is the amazing view from the entire valley and Machu Picchu, therefore you can have an awesome photograph from the full sight of the citadel.

At the appointed time, you will return to the station to take your train ride to train.

After the breakfast you will be taken to the airport to take your flight to Puerto Maldonado.



CORTO MALTES LODGE – DISCOVERING THE JUNGLE (FD)

Upon arrival at Padre Almirez International airport a professional guide will await you. He will accompany you during your whole stay. 

Embarkation will be at Capitania port, the destination being our lodge. You will navigate approximately 40 minutes on the Madre de Dios River in a typical Amazonian boat.

You will arrive at the Corto Maltes Amazonia Lodge. Here you will have a welcome cocktail. Afterwards you will be handed over the keys to your bungalow and you will have lunch. The kitchen of our Lodge stands out for the beautiful presentation and the exquisite tastes of the dishes prepared by our chef.

After that you will have some free time to get comfortable in your bungalow, or take a refreshing dip in our pool.

It gets time to have some first contact with the jungle. On this trek you will see a large variety of tropical trees, medicinal plants, insects, butterflies and other animals. Upon return you will make a small stop at a lookout. Here you can observe toucans, macaws and other species of birds upon your return for sunset. (Duration: between 2, 5 and 3 hours)

Returning to the lodge you can take a refreshing dip in the pool or have an exotic cocktail in our terrace- bar. You could also watch the sunset in the relaxing, tranquility of palm and mango trees at our port.

Before dinner you will go on a nightly boat trip, a little safari trying to spot the white caiman (caiman crocodilus) that lives in the river banks.

After the delicious dinner, those who wish can have some Smalltalk in our reclining seats or have some fun and make friends with other travelers in the bar. Another option is to take a bath in the pool (with bar) under the shining Amazon sky and marvel at the Cross of the South.

PARROT CLAY LICK, MONKEY ISLAND & SANDOVAL LAKE (FD)

Expedition at dawn to parrots clay licks. Here a minimum of five different species feeds on special clay, vital to their metabolism. It’s a truly marvelous, multicolored spectacle.

Breakfast and free time to explore the splendid gardens of Corto Maltes Amazonia. They have dozens of varieties of exotic plants and flowering trees.

Again you will navigate the Madre de Dios River. This time on an expedition destined to “Monkey Island” where some species of these interesting and entertaining animals live in freedom. Following another boat ride of 30 minutes you will enter to the territory of the Tambopata- Candamo National Park. You will trek 5km through the dense vegetation of the tropical rainforest. Giant trees, snakes, monkeys, birds and sometimes even the illusive jaguar can be observed there.

Our destination is heavenly Sandoval Lake. Its privileged settings are shared by numerous species of animals: Birds (in particular Hoatzins, Kingfisher, and Cormorants), different species of monkeys (Squirrel monkeys, Howler monkeys, Capuchin monkeys). At the lake itself you can enjoy the spectacle of Giant River Otters. Black Caimans and Piranhas (sometimes can even observe anacondas in the areas covered by reed). This is also the habitat of the giant Arapaima, a fish of more than 2,5m, weighing in at +200kg. Traveling by canoe, the sunset in the lake is a spectacular unforgettable sight. On our return to the river we might be able to spot some nocturnal animals.

The body demands rest and food after an active day in the jungle. You will enjoy the exotic tastes of our meals, especially our desserts. If you still have energy you can share moments of music and conversation in the bar whilst having a cocktail or enjoy the sounds of the rainforest surrounding you from your hammock.

After a long day full of activity you will enjoy the comfort of you bungalows hammocks. You can also recover with a massage by the lodges’ qualified masseurs. Share service
