Gastronomy
The Madre de Dios cuisine gets its ingredients from the jungle. One of the most popular dishes include juane de gallina, asado de picuro, pescado en paca, patarashca and tacacho with cecina. The exotic fruits of the area, such as aguaje and cocona, are used as a base for sauces and soft drinks.
The largest number of trees for the production of chestnuts, which are consumed in ice cream, sauces, or oils, are concentrated here.
